Teriyaki Chicken

Teriyaki sauce is actually very easy to make, so good bye to those off the shelf teriyaki sauce. All we need is mirin, sake and light soy sauce. You can replace sake with chinese rice wine but to make everything more authentic then of course it is better to be all japanese products. You can replace chicken with salmon or cod

Recipe

 - Ingredients

2 boneless chicken drumstick

 - Seasoning

1 tbsp sake (rice wine)
1 tbsp sugar
2 tbsp mirin
2 tbsp light soy sauce (actually light soy sauce also can but not so authentic)

Preparation

  • Marinate chicken with seasoning for at least 15 mins
  • Fry the skin side of the chicken until the skin is browned ( Do not have to put oil in the pan as the chicken oil from the skin will be even better)
  • Turn the chicken over to fry the other side on low heat
  • Pour the marinate sauce in the pan and cover the pan and cook chicken until done
  • Remove the lid and simmer until the sauce becomes thick.
  • Pour thicken sauce over the chicken

Comments

  1. Poke chicken with fork with marination so that the sauce can be better absorb by chicken
  2. Do not put oil to fry the chicken as the chicken oil will be release while frying
